Good Lord, The Idea Never Occurred To Us
A Channel 4 mock-documentary, Death of a President — in which George W Bush is assassinated — has been condemned by Texas Republicans as "shocking". Well of course it has. But what's really shocking is that John Beyer, of a UK "TV pressure group" called MediaWatch, says it is "irresponsible" because, as he told the Daily Mirror,
"There's a lot of feeling against President Bush and this may well put ideas into people's heads."
So what are you suggesting, Beyer, old chap? That nobody's thought of popping the bugger before now? Nobody? Or that people only have "ideas" in their heads if television puts them there?
